In January 2023, I enrolled in the Physique and Bodybuilding Coach specialization (NASM-PBC) of the National Academy of Sports Medicine. My goal was to turn years of competing and self-experimentation into a proper coaching framework, so I could help clients reach physique goals without the guesswork.
What NASM-PBC Covers
NASM-PBC is a specialization built for coaching bodybuilding and physique clients, from everyday lifters chasing aesthetics to competitors. The curriculum covers:
- Resistance training programming for muscle growth
- Nutrition for building muscle and getting lean, including contest preparation
- Supplementation for physique athletes
- Peaking, posing and the realities of competition
Why I Took It
When I competed at PCBF Mr. Philippines 2018, I learned a lot the hard way: rushed prep, last-minute mistakes, and looking flat on stage. Social media is full of physique advice, much of it contradictory. I wanted evidence-based methods I could apply to real clients with real jobs, families and budgets.
What It Means for My Clients
Every Body by Coach Jeff program is built on NASM’s training principles:
- Structured progression: programs move through clear phases instead of random workouts.
- Progressive overload you can track: your logged weights carry into your next sessions so you keep moving forward.
- Nutrition that fits your life: calorie and macro targets built around Filipino food, not imported meal plans.
- Physique-specific coaching: for clients who want to compete, or just want to look like they could.
Whether your goal is your first pull-up, losing the dad bod, or stepping on stage, the same principles apply. If you want a program built on them, start with online coaching with Body by Coach Jeff.
